He spends so oft eras time being the president of any extra curricul ar activity that he has no time to study. So Max is on the verge of failing out. Mr. Herman Blume is a Vietnam veteran cancelled steel tycoon who has twin sons that attend Rushmore. He is a miserable man who is in a stale, loveless conjugal union and is always melancholy.

This is never more evident than at the twins birthday party. Mr. Blume is sitting on the separate side of the pool from the moderation of the party, throwing golf balls into his own pool. He sees his wife flirting with separate man, so he climbs the plunge board and does a hit ball. He doesnt even forethought enough about his pairing to confront his wife and the other man.
